This process is mostly considered safe, but back-ups beforehand are advised as a precautionary step.

You can return to your previous Windows installation if you are unsatisfied with Windows 10. This option is no longer available after 30 days of an upgrade.

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Open Update & Security and click Recovery.
  3. Select Go back to Windows 7/8.1.
  4. Let the process run and after a short while, the computer will be in its previous Windows environment.
